Back 2 School Bash
Traditional, week-long camp programs end on August 10, but if your school isn’t starting yet, we still have some camp days for you! Join CFCC Staff for the days leading up to school starting. Youth will participate in various daily camp activities and programs; register by the day and either join us on a day to day basis or for the whole week. NOTE: Tuesday, August 14 will include the last summer camp pool day!
Ages: 5-12
Location: Friendship Park, 150 Oklahoma Ave.
Hours: 9am-3pm (Pre Care: 7-9am; After Care: 3-6pm, included in the cost)

American Red Cross - First Aid/CPR/AED Training - 32051

American Red Cross – First Aid/CPR/AED Training
With our certified American Red Cross Instructors, this program will help participants recognize and respond appropriately to cardiac, breathing and first aid emergencies. The courses in this program teach participants the knowledge and skills needed to give immediate care to an injured or ill person and to decide whether advanced medical care is needed. Upon successful completion of this course you will receive a digital certificate for Adult Fist Aid/CPR/AED valid for two year. Participants will need to attend the entirety of the course in order to obtain certification.

Crafting & Cropping - 32251

Bring all your crafting supplies with you - stay all day or just a couple of hours. Door prizes are offered throughout the day and scrapbook/stamping vendors are on-site if you need supplies.
Lunch and dinner are on your own, this new location provides many food opportunities within walking distance. Snacks and bottled water provided, but feel free to bring additional snacks. If you are using electric remember your extension cord.

American Sign Language - Workshop - 32321

American Sign Language
The Columbus Speech & Hearing Center is excited to partner with the Department of Parks & Recreation, as well as Gahanna Branch of the Columbus Metropolitan Library to offer two 2-hour American Sign Language (ASL) Workshops. Learn ASL basics in this brief workshop with instructors from the Center. This workshop will be a great way to get an introduction to ASL and Deaf culture, as well as prepare individuals for a full 8 week class planned for Jan-Feb 2019!

Gahanna Herb Group - 52254

Gahanna Herb Group: The Gahanna Herb Group is a 9-month program that focuses on herbs and their uses. Each month participants study one herb in depth, as well as learn hands-on culinary, cultivation or craft techniques. Herbs are studied from botanical, historical, folkloric, and wellness points of view. More advanced hands-on techniques and a field trip will be utilized to deepen our herbal experience even further. The group also receives informative guides that extend the learning beyond the classroom. Instructors include Herb Center staff as well as guest experts from Central Ohio. This cooperative learning environment is for individuals who would like to dedicate time to earn a deeper understanding of all things herbal.

Benefits include: monthly class, fresh or dried herb for home practice, newsletter, 10% off all gift shop items.

Dates: Tuesdays, September 11, October 9, November 13, December 11, January 8, February 12, March 12, April 9, and May 14.

Herb Group Foundations - 52258

Over 5 months, participants will study one herb in depth, and learn a core hands-on technique. Herbs studied will be drawn from a foundational list of traditional edible herbs that have extended wellness benefits. This year’s list includes: elder, fennel, ginger, vanilla, and thyme. We will study these herbs from botanical and historic viewpoints, and work with them to gain valuable hands-on and sensory familiarity. The group will also receive informative guides, references to follow beyond the classroom, and classes taught by herb center staff. This series is intended for beginning students who would like to deepen their knowledge, understanding and usage of herbs.

Wild Herb Walks - 52271

Beneficial herbs and plants are all around us, and often overlooked as simply “weeds.” Join us on a walk in and around the Parks of Gahanna. Take home the knowledge of what you may be able to discover growing in your back yard! Come in comfortable shoes and be prepared to venture on foot. We will also discuss proper wild-crafting etiquette. Pre-registration by Friday noon is required. Meet at the entrance signboards at each park.

ABC's of Herbal Wellness Fall Edition - 52286

This three part series is for beginners who are interested in learning how herbs can become a part of their daily lives. Each month we focus on particular conditions, discuss diet and lifestyle strategies and explore the herbs that can tone and nourish the body. At the end of each class, create a wellness blend to take home and use. Fall Edition will address common concerns such as colds and flu, digestive issues and skin conditions.

In this class, students will learn how to use every day weeds to make herbal preparations that can be used on bites, stings, and scratches. Each survivor will make an herbal salve to take home as well as learn some basics for herbal first aid.
